You can download the very (VERY) primitive first version of Virtualoso at the following locations:

If you choose to download the source code, it can be compiled in any Visual Basic compiler. The ZIP file also includes some example melodies and a few other goodies.

You've stumbled onto the blog of Virtualoso, an open-source artificial intelligence project. Virtualoso is run by a team of, er, one fifteen-year-old programmer in California. But don't let your interest wane because of that! Virtualoso isn't about expertise and knowledge as much as it is about finding out what exactly goes through the human mind when it composes music.

Virtualoso is still in a very primitive stage. Right now it composes original melodies with some customization options and plays them back. Items of the to-do-in-the-near-future list include visual display, more efficient playback, and a more structured composition process. Stay tuned!
